If you've been following our Workflow Series, you saw the Part IV YouTube video on creating a basic Workflow for item master creation. This came directly from a customer's idea! In this final part of this Workflow series, we wanted to share some real-life customer Workflows Denovo has created to get you thinking about how Workflow could benefit your business:
- Requisition Approvals can sometimes just sit in the Approval Workbench when an approver misses an email. One company modified the standard workflow to include reminder emails to be sent if a req remained unchanged for longer than a day.
- We've had a number of companies routing an employee changes form to various departments for activities like new hires, transfers, title changes, off-boarding, etc. These updates were eventually made in JDE after the form was routed to all the departments and finally returned to HR. Although the Workflow solutions varied, the concept remained the same - upon employee "actions" being entered into JDE, Workflow took it from there to notify other departments (based on the actions taken), getting approvals along the way, and even producing a final form emailed to HR for printing and personnel file storage.
- A Lean Manufacturing company (using daily plans instead of work orders) has product flowing through the warehouse with little to no user management. Everything is automated. At the beginning of the process, their homegrown planning software feeds JDE to perform a Daily Plan Completion. At the end of the process, they scan packaged product onto a truck, and upon the closing out the load, the Orchestration reads that data and performs a Daily Plan Completion (product in), performs a ship confirmation (product out) for the related sales orders, updates serial numbers with the shipped sales order data and updates the source table at the end of the process so that the records are never reprocessed.
