Ask Denovo - Workflow Series Part I: Introductions

Written by Denovo | Aug 1, 2024 4:45:00 PM

JDEdwards has had Workflow since the first iteration of EnterpriseOne - OneWorld Xe back in 2000. (For anyone who wants a blast to the past, this is the link to that guide).

Workflow was lauded for its ability to send messages (even emails!) to route for approvals and update tables upon defined actions. JDE built out canned Workflows for modules like Expense Management and Employee Self-Service as early as Xe. Not many JDE folks know that Oracle Integration Cloud also has had an iteration of Workflow that is very sophisticated and has been around for over a decade. Starting in Release 23, Oracle has completely revamped EnterpriseOne's Workflow to take it out of the JDE Toolset in OMW and shift it to the Orchestrator Studio. The look, feel, and added functionality (previously not possible in JDE) bring it closer to the more modern Oracle Cloud Integration.

This five-part series will take you through Oracle's canned Workflows they've provided since Release 23, show you how to build a basic Workflow from scratch, how to put those Workflows into your JDE screens via Form and Logic Extensions, and finish with actual customer use cases. We may extend to additional postings for anyone interested in adding their Workflow story!

Part II will cover the canned Workflows. Until then and for a little light reading, this is a link to all the new Workflow Oracle content.
