Lights of December Parade
The Lights of December Parade features holiday-themed floats designed by local businesses, civic groups, and charities. Held on December 7th, it’s a great way to kick off the holiday season and watch the marching bands, carolers, and LED-lit fire engines make their way down the parade route.
Starting on 15th & Walnut street, and culminating at 15th & Spruce, the Lights of December Parade attracts tens of thousands of spectators as they anxiously wait for jolly old St. Nick to make his appearance at the end of the procession. There’s plenty of local shops open along the parade route to browse holiday goods and even get a cup of hot coffee or chocolate.

St. Nick on the Bricks
Despite his hectic schedule during this time of year, Santa Claus will be making a regular nightly appearance at the Downtown Boulder Visitor Information Center. St. Nick on the Bricks is a great way for kids of all ages to meet and have their photo taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
No matter if you want a Red Ryder Carbine-Action 200-shot Range Model air rifle, or just peace on earth, Santa will listen politely as you put in a last-minute gift request. After the meet-and-greet with St. Nick, families can take a stroll down the elaborately decorated Pearl St. Mall and stock up on holiday treats and snacks.

The Boulder Ballet and Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra come together to perform The Nutcracker at the Mackey Auditorium. The venue is designed for acoustical perfection, and every single seat has a perfect line of sight to the stage and dancers. The entire show is a sight—and sound—to behold.
The Boulder Ballet puts a unique and modern spin upon this timeless classic by incorporating circus arts and traditional choreography to create a holiday spectacle that people of all ages will enjoy. With over 80 dancers, extravagant set decorations, and backed up by the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra, The Nutcracker is a must-see production.

Freezie Fest is another family-friendly holiday event held on Saturday, December 14th, at the Pearl Street Mall. There will be many costumed snowmen walking around—which makes for a perfect photo opportunity.
There’s also train rides, arts and crafts activities, and a roving group of carolers to help get you in the holiday mood. Freezie Fest is a time-honored Boulder tradition and the perfect way to spend a few hours in the evening celebrating all things winter.

Creekside Caroling and Walk with a Doc
Boulder is known for its fit, healthy people, and this time of year provides many sugar-laden temptations. Creekside Caroling and Walk with a Doc is a great way to get into the holiday spirit—and keep the pounds off. Dr. Nelson Trujillo will lead the group on a walk as they sing Christmas carols and listen to him give a talk about “Food and Mood.”
You can even ask one of the many physicians in attendance any health-related questions that you might have. The event will feature healthy refreshments, prize drawings, and holiday cheer from a group of elves who made the trip all the way down from the North Pole. This free community program is intended to help prevent heart disease and help people get healthy!
